My Personal Story
I created Generation of Light because I’ve walked the parenting journey—not once, but twice—with children nine years apart, each entirely their own universe. My son is 26 this year. My daughter is 17. And I am almost 50.
I’ve been the overachieving parent, the one chasing all the checkboxes. I’ve volunteered, won awards, and surrounded myself with children from all walks of life. I have the records—as a joke—to prove how hard I tried to get it "right." And still, I missed it.
I missed the moment when my son was asking to be seen—not as a student, not as a role to be filled, but as a human being. And once that window closed, I learned the hardest truth: you don’t always get another chance.
This offering is not theoretical. It’s not conceptual. It’s born from a mother's reckoning, a parent's humility, and a human's deepest desire to do better with what she now knows.
I have supported other parents and helped repair bridges that nearly broke—because I’ve lived the pain of what happens when those bridges fall. And now, I offer this path not just from insight, but from a mission.
The Generation of Light is already here. And we—those of us raising them—are the ones who must now rise to meet them.
This is not about being perfect. It’s about being real. Present. Brave enough to pause.
Because when you do, and when your child feels it—that one connection, that moment of being truly
seen—it shifts everything.
